Weekend in the Hudson Valley: A Saugerties Itinerary
Friday Evening: Arrive and Settle In
Check into your lodging — the Saugerties Lighthouse B&B if you planned ahead, a village inn, or a vacation rental. Head to Partition Street for dinner. The village center is compact and walkable, with a solid range of restaurants within a few blocks of each other. A post-dinner stroll along the Esopus Creek is a lovely way to settle in.
Saturday Morning: Coffee and the Lighthouse
Start your day at one of the Partition Street coffee shops. Grab something to eat, then drive to Lighthouse Drive for the walk to the Saugerties Lighthouse. The half-mile trail through Lighthouse Park is easy and beautiful, ending at one of the Hudson Valley's most iconic structures. Plan 1.5-2 hours for the round trip with time to take in the views.
Saturday Afternoon: Village Exploring
Return to the village for lunch and an afternoon of exploration. Browse the indie boutiques, galleries, and shops on Partition Street. If it's a Saturday during the growing season, check if the farmers market is running. The village is small enough to cover on foot in an afternoon without feeling rushed.
Saturday Evening: Dinner and Local Color
Saugerties has strong dinner options ranging from farm-to-table New American to casual Italian and Mexican. After dinner, check if any of the village bars have live music — the Hudson Valley has a strong local music scene and weekends often feature performances.
Sunday: Day Trip to Woodstock
Woodstock is 15 minutes from Saugerties via Route 212. Spend the morning browsing Tinker Street's shops and galleries, visiting the Woodstock Artists Association, and having brunch at one of the town's many excellent cafes. Return to Saugerties for a final walk along the creek before hitting the Thruway home.
